Verse 5

"and that he appeared to Peter, and then to the Twelve."

Compared to the emotional and historical impact of the previous verses' declaration that God himself entered the world, died for mankind's penalty, and rose back to life, this verse lacks the same pop.

But, it's cool. Because it tells us this: Jesus had homies.

He was fully man. He experienced normal human relationships and as a part of that, he had friends. He had an inner circle of guys who he trusted in particular. It's telling that Paul recounts the fact that a newly resurrected Jesus went to go see his friends. He had some really, really great news to share with them!

The humanness of Jesus is wonderful. The fact that he had friends that he shared time, experiences, hardships, joys, and inside jokes with is great. The fact that other people walked through life with him, learned from him, and that he enjoyed being around them is fantastic.

As someone who daily thanks God for my friends who push me towards the Lord and remind me of the Gospel, I'm excited that Jesus, too, had some 哥们儿.

(I couldn't resist. That word is "ge menr" and loosely translates to buddies, it's a great word.)
